The Letters We Once Wrote

Remember how we’d secretly slip
a tightly crafted note, wrapped like a present
on my desk, and into my hands I held
This secret letter, to know what’s inside, I felt compelled

I would run off into
the girls washroom
Excitement ran through
My mind
As I opened up your note
Anticipating what you wrote

We were to meet
Behind the gates, outside the hockey rink
Both of us agreed
we would act on count of three

Dead of winter, after school
The air was dry and cool
Couldn’t stand anymore, the countdown we waited for
Your lips as cold as ice, it was quick but nice

A first kiss in winter
So sweet
Only once more
To repeat
